Learning goal:
I am learning to
apply my knowledge of the research process;
set goals and track my progress.

We will begin by looking at some housekeeping items:

Create a calendar of events for this month.

  • PD day is June 20th;
  • Aboriginal Day is June 21;
  • Course work deadline has passed.
  • Learner’s Toolkit and Course Reflection is due June 17th representing 10% of your mark;
  • Novel research presentation is due June 22nd representing 10% of your mark.
  • Exam is June 27th 9:00 – 11:00 am representing 10% of your mark;

In other words, we have just 12 days left in the course. Today, we are going to focus on your first summative task, as the research process can be time-consuming:

Novel Research Presentation

Before you begin this task, we will read and annotate the rubric, so get your copy of this assignment. We will clarify and go over each part. You should mark up your copy!

Review the steps and any feedback you have from previous research in the course. Take a few minutes and set a goal for yourself today. Look at the learning goals in the document. What will you tackle today? Record this on a page/document. How will you reach this goal? Add to you document the steps you will take in today’s class.

At the end of class check in with your goal. How did you do? Did you stick to your plan? Did you meet your goal? Why/why not?
